Manual therapies are a safe and effective way to help break up those "knots" and "adhesions" felt within the musculature and surrounding soft tissue. Muscles are responsible for the movement and stability of all joints, tendons supply mechanical energy from the muscle belly to the bones, ligaments help in stabilizing bone to bone and keeping the integrity of the joint motion, and fascia surrounding the tissues (muscles, tendons, and nerves) helps with function movement by decreasing friction between structures. At any point, one, if not all, could be compromised and with the use of manual therapies, we can help restore proper function.

Benefits:

  • Improve fascial glide between the soft-tissues
  • Reduce joint stiffness
  • Decrease in pain and soreness
  • Improve joint range of motion
  • Elongation of muscle fibers
  • Promote healing phase of soft-tissue
  • Promotes increased blood flow to the musculature
  • Promotes the healing and regeneration phase of the tissue
  • Removes toxins and dead cells
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Softens tissue to regain muscle elasticity
  • Up-regulate inhibited/hypotonic musculature
  • Breakdown of muscle adhesions and scar tissue
  • Improve joint proprioception

Techniques:

Just like with chiropracitc techniques, there are a lot of manual therapies. At Made 4 Movement, we like to focus on what we have found to work best our experience with patients, those techniques include:

  • Myofascial release technique (MRT)
  • Post-Isometric Relaxation/Reciprocal Inhibition (PIR/RI)
  • Instrument assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
  • Myofascial cupping
  • Activator
  • Trigger point therapy
  • Percussion therapy (massage gun)
